COURSE OVERVIEW

The Oak Brook Half-Marathon will challenge you with rolling hills, while providing you with a scenic tour of the Village of Oak Brook.

The course will start on wide city streets before turning onto a wooded path near the Oak Brook Polo Grounds, and through the McDonalds Corporate Campus. It then crosses into Oak Brook's beautiful Central Park, via the asphalt-surfaced Oak Brook Bike/Running Path System. After a winding tour of the Village, the course turns south at Spring Road, and connects with the soft crushed limestone trails through Fullerburg Woods. The final three miles of the course include the Bike/Running Path around the Oak Brook Golf Club before finishing in Central Park.

Note: Course Time Limit - For safety reasons, the Half-Marathon course will be open for 3 1/2 hours. Also, runners who do not cross the 5.75 mile mile point (the intersection of Oak Brook Road and 31st St.) by 8:30 AM (an approximate 16:00 min/mile pace) will be directed back to the Finish Line Area (about one mile away).

The course is USATF certified. Note: The certification code is IL-09083-JW.

AID STATIONS

Water and Hydro-BOOM Electrolyte 5 Sports Drink will be on the course at approximately the Start Line, at seven Aid Stations located along the course, and at the Finish Line. We will offer Carb-BOOM Energy Gel at approximately the 9.5 mile mark.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

We will run the same great course in 2010! The Race will start eastbound on Kensington Road, near Kensington Court. Runners will turn right (south) onto Jorie Blvd., left (east) onto Oak Brook Road/31st St., then left (north) onto Bath & Tennis Drive. Near the end of Bath & Tennis Drive, in the Oak Brook Sports Core, runners will turn left onto a trail leading into the McDonalds Corporate Campus.

Heading westbound through the north end of the Campus, runners will turn left (south) onto the asphalt- surfaced Oak Brook Bike Path System on the east side of Jorie Blvd. Following this Path, runners will make a winding right turn (west) under the viaduct and into Central Park.

Continuing on the Path, runners will cross onto the McDonalds Soccer Fields, turning left (west), through the viaduct under Route 83, continuing west to Midwest Road. At Midwest Road, runners will turn left (south) to 31st St., and left again (east) to Spring Road. Runners will turn right (south) and cover a half-mile strech of Path and street before entering Fullersburg Woods for a beautiful, shaded (and hilly) 3-mile stretch.

Runners exit Fullersburg Woods crossing north at 31st St., and re-connect with the Bike/Running Path (just east of the Oak Brook Public Library). Runners will follow the Bike/Running Path for the remainder of the race, turning right (east) to York Road, left (north) to 22nd Street, tracing the Oak Brook Golf Club around 22nd St. westbound to Jorie Blvd. At Jorie Blvd., runners will turn left (southbound) back to the viaduct on the McDonalds Campus, cross under Jorie Blvd. again, and head straight into into Central Park for the finish.
